How to Care for Curly Clip Ins

I know that I may not have mentioned it on the blog yet (coming soon!), but I have FINALLY invested in some amazing curly clip ins. I have been rocking them incessantly for the past month, and I’ve kind of come up with my personal maintenance regimen. Curly hair extensions are a little different than straight hair, because they have to be cared for in a way that’s similar to our own hair.

If you are looking for a great place to buy reasonably priced natural hair clip ins, I recommend checking out this new company named EZ Puff Hair. (like I said, review coming soon!)

If you have already bought curly hair clip ins, and you’re looking for tips on how to care for them to get the longest life, check out my 4 tips for maintaining curly clip ins on BlackHairInformation.com — OR read this quick little infographic that I made for you below:

4 tips 4 curly clip ins

With the proper maintenance,  your clip ins can last you over a year. And if the hair quality is good, you won’t have to worry about unneccessary shedding from the weft. These can be an investment that pays for itself, once cared for properly.

And what products should you use to maintain your curly clip ins? I’ve included my favs below:

1) Widetooth comb – I notice that if I wear my clip ins every day (and go to sleep in them), they can get a little tangled over the course of the week. Instead of spending MORE of my time finger detangling, I simply use a wide tooth comb to remove all of the knots and tangles.

2) Tresemme Conditioner – You can use any conditioner you feel comfortable with, but I don’t feel like using my pricier conditioner on extensions. I still have some Tresemme Naturals conditioner sitting around my house, so I use that to co-wash my extensions. I normally don’t detangle until I’ve let the conditioner sit for a few minutes; it makes it soo  much easier to get all of the tangles out.
3) Refresher Spray – Just like our natural hair, sometimes curly hair extensions need to be moisturized and refreshed. I really like this coconut based spray from Natasha Somalia. It’s naturally based, and works well for both real hair and extensions. The best part? You can find this spray on AMAZON!
And that’s about it! When it comes to curly clip ins, you don’t need a lot of product to keep the curls #onfleek! These basic essentials will keep the extensions in the best possible shape for as long as possible. What about you? If you wear curly clip ins, how do you keep them looking their best? What is your maintenance regimen like?
